Star Wars 9: Il designer ha finito di lavorare a Episodio IX

Il designer della Lucasfilm Production annuncia di aver terminato di lavorare a Star Wars 9 con un post su Instagram.

I film Disney di Star Wars hanno regalato al pubblico numerosissime memorabili creature. Il design è una delle cose più importanti della saga ed è stato importante provvedere a creare qualcosa di nuovo nell’avvio della nuova trilogia con “Il Risveglio della Forza”, come ci ha spiegato anche Dave Fogler nel nostro incontro a Lucca Comics. Una gran parte del merito è del concept designer Jake Lunt Davies. Per annunciare che il suo lavoro a Star Wars 9 si è concluso ha postato su Instagram una serie di immagini che ritraggono le molte creazioni che ha aiutato a sviluppare.

So this week my contract ended on Star Wars EpIX….which kind of means after 5 years and 5 movies, I’ve finally finished on Star Wars. As a kid this was my childhood ambition and I still can’t believe that I’ve now actually had this opportunity to be part of and contribute to the legacy of the Star Wars galaxy. Above are a few of the things I designed for TFA, Rogue 1, TLJ and Solo. However as much as I and my concept colleagues @lukedfisher @martin_rezard and Ivan Manzella get to dream up all these characters and ideas, none of it would happen or become reality without the brilliant team we work with under Neal Scanlan’s leadership – the sculptors; the mould makers, foam shop and seamers; the fabrication team; the model makers; the mechies, animatronic designers and electronics guys; the hair team; the painters and make-up artists; and the performers that finally bring these creatures to life. Thank you Neal for asking me to be part of the team. Beyond the CFX department I’d also thank Costume Designers Michael Kaplan, @glyn_dillon and Dave Crossman plus the CG artists at @ilmvfx for adding their magic to our work. Quindi questa settimana il mio contratto con Star Wars 9 è terminato…. Cioè dopo 5 anni e 5 film, ho finalmente finito di lavorare a Star Wars. Da bambino questa era la mia ambizione e ancora non riesco a credere di aver avuto davvero quest’opportunità di far parte e contribuire all’eredità della galassia di Star Wars.

Queste sono le parole che l’artista ha scritto su Instagram, seguite da numerosi e sinceri ringraziamenti a tutto lo staff che ha condiviso quest’avventura con lui.
Dall’immagine si può capire quante nuove creature siano state realizzate con il trascorrere degli anni. Jake Lunt Davies però non è l’unico ovviamente a lavorare al progetto quindi sebbene il suo lavoro sia terminato, c’è ancora molto tempo da dedicare alla produzione completa dell’opera.
Si sa poco sulla trama di Star Wars 9 ma quello che è certo è che il cast sarà composto da Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo e Billie Lourd. Ad aggiungersi a questa lista di attori saranno Naomi Ackie e Richard E. Grant a cui si uniranno i veterani della saga Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels e Billy Dee Williams.
L’uscita nelle sale cinematografiche statunitensi di Episodio IX è prevista per il 20 dicembre 2019.
