Ian Somerhalder: L’attore di The Vampire Diaries visita la sua vecchia casa milanese

Di passaggio a Milano per la GoodbyeCon, l’attore Ian Somerhalder ha fatto una piccola sosta alla sua vecchia casa milanese di quando faceva ancora il modello. 

 
L’attore di The Vampire Diaries e attivista Ian Somerhalder è stato a Milano per partecipare alla GoodbyeCon, la Convention dedicata alle serie tv cult per teenager che si sono concluse quest’anno. L’attore, che ha iniziato la carriera come modello, ha approfittato della sua visita in Italia per fare un salto al suo primo appartamento a Milano. Ian Somerhalder ha voluto condividere il suo momento nostalgia, scrivendo la sua storia, su Instagram e postando un selfie proprio a Piazzela Fratelli Zavattari.

Piazzela Fratelli Zavattari, 6:15 AM this morning Milano time.This was my 1st apartment in Milano in 1995 when I was here as a model.So many memories of this little square as a 16 and 17 year old kid that I wanted to stop here&feel it once again.To see if i could.I had my driver drop me here before my flight just to walk around and take in the quiet,dark,wet &chilly city morning.This cold morning reminded me of a time I lost my keys one night in Milano&had to wait for someone in my building to leave for work so I could get in.I wasn’t upset at all about it at the time,it was a peaceful morning&it’s now a peaceful memory.I just sat on the curb, shivering a bit and writing in my journal that I carried everywhere.Wow it was all so simple…That was over two decades ago. Now,in 2018,the bakery has changed shape,it still smells amazing but looks new.An old woman from Sicily used to bake bread every morning there 22 years ago as she had for decades of her life before.When I had no money, she would give me loaves of bread and sometimes a bottle of wine to keep me company, open my mind and warm my heart, she would say to me in a thick accent. She had done the same for her son. I really appreciated that little old woman&she knew that I was just a kid trying to make it in the world. The world was bright then,every turn of a street could mean a new revelation,every handshake could be the one that changed the course of my life…I want to get back to feeling that way.Imagine if we could still live our lives with such curiosity&joy.If we could raise our children&run our companies with the promise&knowledge that each new day brings such amazing things with those around us&with kindness&compassion.Now, in this little piazza in the dark early morning, every dog I see on a leash is followed by their human parent, face lit by a tiny little screen getting pictures, gossip content or maybe election news that is filling their brains so early; how I wish they could just look,I hope they do.I hope we all do… Our lives and self worth are not locked up in the little glowing devices.They are only tools.The good stuff comes from our hearts and our spirits. I really do believe this…

“Piazzela Fratelli Zavattari, 6.15 del mattino qui a Milano” ha scritto Ian Somerhalder nel post. “Questo è stato il mio primo appartamento a Milano nel 1995 quando ero qui come modello. Tantissimi i ricordi di quando avevo 16 e 17 anni in questa piazza che volevo sentire ancora una volta. Prima del volo ho fatto fermare qui il mio autista solo per gironzolare e assaporare la calma, l’oscurità, il bagnato e il relax della città al mattino.”

Nello stesso post, Ian Somerhalder ricorda di quando da ragazzo aveva perso le chiavi in piena notte e aspettò al freddo che qualcuno del palazzo uscisse per andare al lavoro. Ma ciò non lo infastidì grazie anche alla splendida mattinata, la stessa che ha ritrovato 20 anni dopo. L’attore di The Vampire Diaries scrive:

“Ora, nel 2018 la panetteria ha cambiato forma, il profumo è ancora fantastico ma sembra nuovo.Ventidue anni fa, una vecchia signora siciliana  infornava il pane ogni mattina cosi come ha fatto per decenni nella sua vita. Quando non avevo soldi, lei mi dava una pagnotta e a volte una bottiglia di vino per tenermi compagnia, aprirmi la mente e scaldarmi il cuore, lo diceva con un forte accento. Ha fatto lo stesso per suo figlio. Ho apprezzato tantissimo questa piccola donna e lei sapeva che ero solo un ragazzino che cercava di farcela in questo mondo.”

Ian Somerhalder nostalgico della vecchia vita a Milano

Ian Somerhalder continua descrivendo come quel periodo in Italia è stato uno dei più formativi e ha cambiato il corso della sua vita. L’attore sogna ancora che le nostre vite possano essere piena di curiosità e gioia, come forse lo erano un tempo a Piazzella Fratelli Zavattari. Sempre nello stesso post il protagonista di The Vampire Diaries scrive:

“Ora, in questa piccola piazza ancora al buio, ogni cane che vedo al guinzaglio è seguito dal suo genitore umano, con la faccia rivolta su un piccolo schermo, forse leggendo gossip o le notizie sulle elezioni che riempiono il loro cervello già cosi presto. Come vorrei che potessero solo guardare, spero lo facciano. Spero che tutti lo facciamo…”

 

Un post davvero toccante, nostalgico e pieno di verità quello dell’attore Ian Somerhalder che ricorda con affetto gli anni vissuti a Milano.
